Julian Villasenor was born in Mexico City. He studied ceramics in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, and worked in this field for twenty-five years. Julian has won National Awards and other distinctions worldwide. His work has been exhibited in Japan, Italy, England and different museums in Mexico . The last years of his career in ceramics he dedicated most of his time working for Aboriginal ceramic communities providing technical support. He also worked with these communities in exploring new designs based on their own cultural roots and historic heritage.

In 2005 he decided to start a new career as a woodworker.  Julian is a self-taught furniture maker. He has been living in Toronto since 2006 where he worked at Two Degrees North, producing furniture for well-known Toronto-based designers and architects.

Currently he is working in his own shop. Julian produces solid wood furniture and veneer work characterized by quiet and simple lines.
